Introduction/Mission - 

The Outreach and Event Planning Committee promotes stakeholder awareness of Venice community issues and participation in Venice Neighborhood Council activities, organizes quarterly Stakeholder meetings and special events, and performs outreach to Stakeholders.

Welcome to the Outreach Committee!

We’re a dynamic, diverse team that meets monthly to brainstorm creative ways to connect with our Venice community. November and December brought many opportunities to engage with stakeholders of all ages, and the Outreach Team had a great time representing the Venice Neighborhood Council at events across Venice, including:

Meeting dates and times may shift to accommodate our members’ busy schedules. During the holiday season, or when we are focused on major Outreach events and Town Halls, we may occasionally forgo a regular meeting to put our energy into being out in the community.

The Venice Neighborhood Council is your vehicle for making a difference in your community. Join us for our next Outreach Committee meeting on Wednesday, January 14 at 5:00 pm on Zoom.

This month’s agenda includes:

• Welcome our new VNC Communications Chair, our very own Outreach Committee member, Soraya Moss!!
  We are excited to work alongside Soraya in her new role. The Communications Chair is a distinct and essential position within the VNC, and one that naturally overlaps with Outreach. Our shared goal is strong collaboration, clearly defined roles, and a smooth workflow that supports both committees and serves our stakeholders well.

• Newsletter collaboration with the Communications Committee
  Join us as we explore newsletter design, format, and distribution. Outreach focuses on developing content and community-driven messaging, while Communications plays a critical role in packaging and distributing that content so it reaches stakeholders clearly, consistently, and effectively.

• Budget Requests for Town Hall and Event promotion needs for upcoming events!

• By Law Clairifications for both Outreach and the Communications Committee
  Confusion no more. As the Communications Chair role is still relatively new, existing bylaws need refinement to clearly define responsibilities and reduce overlap or uncertainty. This discussion is an important first step toward updating the bylaws and, ultimately, creating Standing Rules that support collaboration, protect committee leads, and set everyone up for success moving forward.

Agenda Requests

The Outreach Committee conducts its business by reviewing and prioritizing agenda requests for Board action (generally either in the form of a motion or letter) or announcements submitted by stakeholders, governmental entities and other interested individuals and organizations. Outreach Committee Committee has the discretion to postpone a request, refer it to a specific committee for review and recommendation, treat it as an announcement or consider and resolve it as a non-Board administrative matter.
