Night 2

The Venice Neighborhood Council (VNC) along with LA's 98 other Neighborhood Councils, form the grassroots level of the City's government. While VNC board members serve their community without pay, they are public officials elected by the stakeholders of their community.

The VNC Board of Officers is composed of 21 elected Venice stakeholders, all of which are up for election every two years. The election is conducted by the Los Angeles City Clerk's Office. You may vote In-Person or Vote-by-Mail. Immigration status or previous convictions will not affect any qualified Stakeholder’s ability to vote in these elections. Anyone who is currently unhoused and sleeping within the Venice NC boundaries, is also eligible to vote.

In-person Voting will occur at the Oakwood Recreation Center, 767 California Avenue, Venice, 90291 on March 26, 2023. Polls will be open from 10am until 6pm.

Note: City policy has been revised- proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test
will no longer be required to enter a polling location.
(You will need to bring qualifying documentation with you, but do not need to pre-register!)

➡ Visit the LA City Clerk HOW TO VOTE page. (It will be helpful to first read the NC Elections FAQs and the 2023 NC Documentation Guide.)

Voting-by-Mail: If you have successfully completed the vote-by-mail application, you should receive your ballot in the mail with full voting instructions. (In the event that you do not receive a ballot, make an error while voting on the ballot, or receive the wrong ballot, you must contact the City Clerk to request a replacement ballot before March 14, 2023. Once a ballot is re-issued, the original ballot is voided.)
Your completed Ballot must be postmarked and mailed by Saturday, March 25th to be counted. Otherwise, you may drop off your completed Ballot at the Oakwood Recreation Center polling location from 10am-6pm.

Voting Provisionally: Provisional voting entitles any voter who claims a stake in the Venice NC an opportunity to vote even though their eligibility to vote cannot be immediately determined at the polling place. The content of a Provisional Ballot will be the same as a regular ballot, but it must be cast “provisionally” until the City Clerk can
verify the voter’s eligibility. Provisional voters will have three business days after Election Day to submit any information necessary for the City Clerk to determine their eligibility to vote and count their ballot.

Voters who were mailed a VBM ballot and wish to vote at a polling place must vote provisionally to prevent double voting. The vote will be included in the tally once it is confirmed the VBM ballot was not received by the City Clerk.

🔹Voter Guide:   A printed VNC Voter Guide Newsletter will be mailed to addresses in the VNC boundaries the week of March 13. The Voter Guide will contain a picture and statement from all participating Candidates, as well Voting Instructions and other useful voting information.

Additional copies can be obtained by request: elections@venicenc.org
A (downloadable) digital version of the Voter Guide is also available HERE.
