permit parking rules and regulations?
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 08/27/2008 - 11:02am.Our block, a walkstreet, learned about the permit parking issue when it was going before the Coastal Commission. We learned yesterday this has been approved, but there is no-where we can find out anything substantive about WHAT was approved.
Only rumors: permits will cost $45, overnight guests will have to be cleared by the city in advance and pay $10. 2/3 of a block must approve before permit parking signs go up (meaning, as with Santa Monica, if there's no permit parking on your street you get everyone from other streets).

Homeless parking lot on 3rd and Hampton between Rose and Sunset?
Submitted by Paul Troon on Tue, 04/29/2008 - 1:32pm.Is this true?! are we now allowing what has already become skid row in Venice to have night time parking restrictions completely removed? I just saw a copy of this email from one of our Councilman's minions. Notice how he ties the overnight parking restrictions to opening up 3rd and Hampton. This is bad for Venice! this area will become a magnet for the motorhome dwellers who want to live rent free by the beach. Mobile home parks are the answer, not free street parking overnight. paul

City Hall (213) 473-7011 West LA (310) 575-8461 Westchester (310) 568-8772
September 27, 2007
Dear Friends:
I want to share with you an update on our mutual effort to win approval of overnight residential parking districts in Venice.
As you know, this has been a long and complicated effort, with lots of roadblocks. I am pleased to report that we are making progress. I have secured funding to help implement the districts, and convinced the responsible city agencies to address this aggressively.

Vehicle Lodging Survey
Submitted by admin on Thu, 09/13/2007 - 4:31pm.From Dennis Hathaway (as posted on VeniceCA):
The issue of people living in vehicles on Venice streets is obviously pushing buttons right now, and creating lots of rhetoric from various points of view. I've heard claims that there are "hundreds" of such vehicles on the streets, as well as assertions that the numbers are greatly exaggerated.
In order to try to shed some light on this, I conducted an informal survey last night by driving the major streets of Venice and counting the vehicles that looked as if they were being used as living quarters. Beginning around 10 p.m., I drove all of Rose Ave., Pacific Ave., Main St., Lincoln Blvd., Venice Blvd., Walgrove Ave., Penmar Ave., California Ave., Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice Way and Grand Ave. Also parts of Windward Ave., Palms Blvd., Mildred Ave., Flower Ave., Sunset Ave., , Hampton Dr., and 7th Avenue.
