Although the official minutes have not yet been posted,
please find below is a brief summary of some of
the actions taken at last weeks Board of Officers Meeting:
* Hotel at 812 Main Street
The VNC Land Use and Planning Committee (LUPC) recommended
the Board disapprove a proposed Hotel project for
812 Main Street, on the corner of Main Street and Abbot
Kinney Blvd. The project included hotel, condominium, retail
and underground parking components. For more information,
contact LUPC@grvnc.org . The Board voted to support LUPCs

* Chain Stores Ban
The Board voted to support a proposal created by
Dawn Hollier and Melissa Bechtel to ban any new "formula
retailers" from opening on Ocean Front Walk or Abbot Kinney
Blvd. Their group "Venice Unchained" presented a petition with
over 1600 signatures from Venice stakeholders asking for
the support of the VNC and LA City Council to
craft such an ordinance.

The Board voted to support a proposed fund dedicated to
restoring public art in Venice in need of repair and maintenance.
A mural by Emily Winters in need of graffiti removal and
the Venice Art Wall were suggested by the speakers as
two potential candidates for future repair.

The Board voted to approve funding to do a radius mailing
to all properties along the areas affected by a proposed
Commercial Construction Moratorium. This is in preparation
for a community meeting on this topic.
