1. GRVNC Special Election Meeting Reminder (Jan 17)

When: Tuesday, January 17, 2006, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Westminster Elementary School, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd, School
Auditorium.

On January 17th, 2006, Venice Stakeholders will be asked to ratify two
important GRVNC Board actions
at a Special Election Meeting to be run concurrently with the GRVNC
Board meeting. The two items to be
voted on are:

1) Confirm or replace the GRVNC Board's appointment to fill the vacant
District 2 Board seat.
2) Ratify or reject the GRVNC Board's unanimous decision to amend the
GRVNC Bylaws to permit General
Election meetings to be held in September rather then June, as described
here:

All stakeholders, except those already registered from the September
2005 GRVNC General Election,
will need to provide proof of their stakeholder status in the form of a
valid credential to vote.
Valid credentials will constitute one (1) of the following unless
otherwise specified:

• CA Drivers License ( Current -- for an address within the GRVNC area)
• CA Residency Card (Current -- for an address within the GRVNC area)
• School ID Card (Current -- for a school with in the GRVNC boundaries)
• A business card (In combination with any of the following with a
matching Venice address-
Business license, business check, or pay stub).
• A recent utility bill (Current within 90 days -- for an address within
the GRVNC area)
• An imprinted check (Current -- including an address within the GRVNC are)
• Pay stub (Current within 90 days from a business within the GRVNC area)
• Passport (only in combination with any other credential item)
• School report card (No older than June 2005 from a school with in the
GRVNC boundaries)
• Property tax bill (Most recent with an address within the GRVNC area)

OTHER CREDENTIALS:
• Church/Religious Institution within the GRVNC area:
Letter (on business letterhead) from Church/Religious institution;
contribution statement
• Nonprofit Organization within the GRVNC area:
Letter(on business letterhead) from organization; receipt (dues,
membership card with contact information)
• Senior Group within the GRVNC area:
Letter (on business letterhead) from organization; receipt (dues,
membership card with contact information)
• Venice Boardwalk license or certificate (Current – not less than 90
days old)
• Homeless Credential
Recent (within 90 days) documentation from a local Venice agency
indicating that the stakeholder is a client
of the facility or receives services from said facility

3. Important GRVNC Procedures

** Executive Committee **

All requests for placement on the agenda for a Board of Officers meeting
must be presented on an Agenda Request Form at the preceding Executive
Committee
meeting along with any attachments. Agenda Request Forms may be
submitted to
the GRVNC Executive Committee at the email address: excom@grvnc.org
or delivered in person at the Executive Committee meeting.

Proposed agenda items will be considered in the order received.

** Land Use and Planning **

INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT:
1. Please E-mail a project information form with an electronic copy of
your plans, preferably in PDF format,
TEN days prior to your meeting date along with a LUPC Project Form to
lupc@grvnc.org.
2. Bring to the meeting TEN copies of your plans and renderings for The
Committee. You may wish
to bring additional copies for the audience.

4. Grievance Received

The GRVNC Executive Committee received a stakeholder grievance from Mr.
Rick Selan and
has referred this matter to the Rules and Elections Committee. The Rules
and Election
Committee will review the matter at its January 24th meeting and prepare
a report
for the February Board of Officers meeting.

** Note: The Education Committee location has changed and a Disaster
Preparedness
Committee meeting has also been scheduled for January 26th (see below).

Vote to confirm Board appointment of District 2 Board Officer and to
confirm bylaws change of Board terms to end September 30th instead of
June 30th.
Please bring proof of stakeholder status ... you must live, work, own
property
or belong to a Venice community organization to vote.

Tuesday, January 17 ... GRVNC Board of Officers ... 7:00 PM at Westminster

6. Martin Luther King Day / Lincoln Place Rally (Jan 16)

Martin Luther King Day Rally in Venice to focus on Lincoln Place,
affordable housing

"Martin Luther King's dream of justice, equality and a life of dignity
for all will be
celebrated in Venice, beginning at 1pm Monday, Jan. 16, in an outdoor
rally on California Avenue,
just east of Lincoln Blvd. The rally is being held at Lincoln Place to
focus attention on the
dismanteling of affordable housing in our community and to re-ignite
King's enduring vision
of decent housing for all. "
