1. GRVNC Special Election Meeting (Jan 17)

When: Tuesday, January 17, 2006, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Westminster Elementary School, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd,  School Auditorium. 

On January 17th, 2006, Venice Stakeholders will be asked to ratify two important GRVNC Board actions
at a Special Election Meeting to be run concurrently with the GRVNC Board meeting.  The two items to be 
voted on are:

1) Confirm or replace the GRVNC Board's appointment to fill the vacant District 2 Board seat.
2) Ratify or reject the GRVNC Board's unanimous decision to amend the GRVNC Bylaws to permit General 

Election meetings to be held in September rather then June, as described here:

All stakeholders, except those already registered from the September 2005 GRVNC General Election, 
will need to provide proof of their stakeholder status in the form of a valid credential to vote. 
Valid credentials will constitute one (1) of the following unless otherwise specified:

• CA Drivers License ( Current -- for an address within the GRVNC area)
• CA Residency Card (Current -- for an address within the GRVNC area)
• School ID Card (Current -- for a school with in the GRVNC boundaries)
• A business card (In combination with any of the following with a matching Venice address- 
  Business license, business check, or pay stub).
• A recent utility bill (Current within 90 days -- for an address within the GRVNC area)
• An imprinted check (Current -- including an address within the GRVNC are)
• Pay stub (Current within 90 days from a business within the GRVNC area)
• Passport (only in combination with any other credential item)
• School report card (No older than June 2005 from a school with in the GRVNC boundaries)
• Property tax bill (Most recent with an address within the GRVNC area)

OTHER CREDENTIALS:
• Church/Religious Institution within the GRVNC area:
Letter (on business letterhead) from Church/Religious institution; contribution statement
• Nonprofit Organization within the GRVNC area:
Letter(on business letterhead) from organization; receipt (dues, membership card with contact information)
• Senior Group within the GRVNC area:
Letter (on business letterhead) from organization; receipt (dues, membership card with contact information) • •
• Venice Boardwalk license or certificate (Current – not less than 90 days old)
• Homeless Credential
Recent (within 90 days) documentation from a local Venice agency indicating that the stakeholder is a client of the facility or receives services from said facility

2. Board of Officers Agenda Request Forms Due (Jan 2)

To assure that your request for placement on the agenda of the next Board of Officers meeting
will be considered at the next Executive Committee meeting, the following form must be fully completed, 
along with all required documents, and submitted to DeDe Audet, GRVNC Executive Committee Chair at the email address:
president@grvnc.org, at least 7 days in advance of the Executive Committee meeting scheduled for January 9.

3. GRVNC Co-sponsors Venice Arts Council Public Art & Culture Workshop <VeniceArtsCouncilPublicArtCultureWorkshop.htm> (Jan 7)

What: A Public Art and Culture Workshop, A Gathering of Venice Artists, Organizations and 
the Community for Dialogue and Interaction about the Arts in Venice
When: Jan. 7, 2006 11:00am - 4:00pm
Where: Venice Methodist Church, Venice Center for Peace with Justice and the Arts, 2210 Lincoln Blvd.

4. Santa Monica Bay Keeper's Lincoln Blvd Cleanup Day (Jan 21)

Catch some rays, get some exercise and help us clean up Lincoln Blvd. before all that 
trash finds its way into the Bay. With enough volunteers, we can clean both sides of Lincoln, 
from Superba Ave. all the way to the Culver Bridge. We’ve done it before – help us do it again. 
(Please note that in the unlikely event of rain, the cleanup will be cancelled).

When: January 21, 9 am – noon  (every third Saturday of the Month)

Where: 3100 Washington Blvd., Venice (just west of Lincoln); 
we’ll meet in the parking lot at the back of the building

Who: Anyone 18 years or older who wants to clean up the community and the Bay

Parking: Ample parking is available on Harrison, one block north or Washington.

Tuesday, January 3 ... GRVNC Bylaws Committee Meeting ... 7:00 PM at Extra Space 
Storage President's Row Room (658 Venice Blvd).  Ongoing Bylaws revisions.
 
Wednesday, January 4 ... GRVNC Land Use & Planning Committee ... 7:00 PM at
the Boys & Girls Club of Venice (2232 Lincoln Blvd). The agenda includes a 
presentation/public hearing on the latest proposal for the MTA/RAD project.

Monday, January 9 ... GRVNC Executive Committee - 7:00 PM at the Extra Space
Storage, 658 Venice Blvd,  President's Row Room. The committee will consider/ 
approve items to be placed on the Board of Officers meeting agenda.  Requests 
must be submitted to excom@grvnc.org by January 2 to be considered.

Tuesday, January 10 ... Public Workshop on the Revised Ocean Front Walk
Ordinance ... 7:00 PM at the Oakwood Recreation Center, 767 California Ave. 
Sponsored by Councilman Bill Rosendahl and co-sponsored by GRVNC.

Tuesday, January 17 ... GRVNC Special Election Meeting ... 7:00 PM at

Vote to confirm Board appointment of District 2 Board Officer and to 
confirm bylaws change of Board terms to end September 30th instead of June 30th. 
Please bring proof of stakeholder status ... you must live, work, own property 
or belong to a Venice community organization to vote.
