the GRVNC Bylaws as follows: “ARTICLE IV — BOARD OF OFFICERS
G. Term: Each term of office shall be two years (excepting those initial
terms described below). Terms shall begin on [remove: July 1st and end
on June 30th ] [add: October 1st and end on September 30th.] See Article

4. LA County Beaches and Harbors beach parking lot renovation

There is a $6.5 Million project to renovate the parking area of Venice
Beach, orchestrated by the Department of Beaches and harbors of Los
Angeles County. There will be a renovation of the restroom facilities at
Washington Boulevard and Venice Boulevard, as well as the restrooms at
Yall Street. They will all become unisex facilities. In addition, the
bicycle rental units at Rose Avenue and at Washington Boulevard will be
replaced with new ones.

The parking lot closures will be staggered so as not to have all of
them closed for renovation at the same time. Portable restrooms will be
made available throughout the entire beach area, with the restrooms to
be closed during evening hours, for security purposes.

In addition, the section of the bike path which stretches through the
parking lot near Washington Boulevard will be altered so as to not have
the cyclist riding through the lot with motor vehicles.

There will be signs posted throughout the beach to explain the
renovation project, along with a contact phone number to the county. The
project is scheduled to begin this coming Monday with a projected finish
by the beginning of the summer season.

(Thanks to Linda Lucks, GRVNC At-large District Rep, for tracking down
the details on this project)

5. Los Angeles Conservation Corps on Rose Avenue (Dec 15+)

Jamie Cantor Ginsburg has, with the assistance of Mark Antonio Grant at
Bill Rosendahl's Office, arranged for the Los Angeles Conservation Corps - a
nonprofit that helps young people develop by participating in environmental
projects - to come and help clean up Rose Avenue twice a month. Each group
of kids will be cleaning the area every other Wednesday; with a different
group of workers coming every 8 weeks.

Their responsibilities will include sweeping the sidewalks, getting rid of
weeds, addressing graffiti, and over all maintenance of the area.
They will work for five hours, from 8:00am until 1:00pm.

The next clean-up day will be December 15th, after which a small party will
be organized at Rosendahl's office to thank them. Volunteers?

Please take a moment to thank these young volunteers if you see them helping
out on Rose Ave.

Please put up and pass on the flier here:
