for the At-Large Board seat. However, only stakeholders living
in the Penmar district (south of Palms,
East of Lincoln) of Venice may hold the District 4 seat.

2) SPECIAL ALERT !

City to amend Venice Specific Plan
The City Council is poised to
1) amend the Venice Coastal Specific Plan as well as
2) amending the LA Municipal Code to provide new procedures for
issuing and appealing coastal development permits and
3) pass an ordinance to establish a Categorical Exclusion Order
within the Venice Coastal Zone which would enable small scale
development projects that comply with all development standards
policies to be exempt from the requirement to obtain a Coastal
Development Permit.
These 3 ordinances are intended to provide the tools of implementation
of the Venice Local Coastal Land Use Plan, which is a policy document.
The Planning and Land Use Committee of the City Council is considering
the recommendations from the Planning Department to adopt these
ordinances and to find them exempt from the California Environmental
Quality Act (CEQA), and make a recommendation to the full Council,
which is expected to consider this and act on it probably next week.
After that it goes to the Coastal Commission for Certification or will
be sent back with requested changes.
For more information on the proposals:
Contact Helene Bibas, Venice Planner at the Planning Department:

or come to the Board meeting on monday at Vera Davis Center
