[grvnc] Nominations, Nominations, Nominations

Dear Grass Roots Venice Neighborhood Council reader,

I am aware that you are used to receiving only one message
from GRVNC per month, so I apologize for the temporary need
to send you several in this month of October as I work out the logistics
of collecting and disseminating Venice events and GRVNC info.

The major news is that GRVNC is now accepting nominations for the
board seats that were vacated last month. GRVNC by-laws state that
the board appoints vacancies to be filled and then those choices are
ratified by vote of Venice stakeholders at a general meeting.

The board could fill the positions of Oakwood District Representative,
Government Relations Officer, and President as early as the next Board
meeting on Wed, Oct 22.

However, the board will also consider a motion to amend the by-laws to
eliminate the position of President and to rotate chairing of GRVNC
meetings
among the board until any by-laws changes are ratified. It is possible,
therefore, that no President will be named on Wednesday, or that it may
only
be a temporary position. I hope that the uncertainty involved does not
discourage
Venice stakeholders from nominating.

Also, the board will be considering a motion to add some duties to the
job description of the Government Relations Officer, requiring that
person to be more responsible for information both to and from
governmental entities.

All of these positions now have terms that expire at the end of June, the
next GRVNC general election. Both the President and Gov Rel Officer
also serve on the Executive Committee.

Also, the GRVNC board is accepting nominations for stakeholders who
are interested in chairing a temporary (or ad-hoc) By-Laws committee.

Please email your nomination for any or all positions back to me.
You must include your name and address for stakeholder identification
purposes.

Thanks,
Tom

development projects, transportation, affordable housing, and the need to
preserve Venice's unique historical and artistic heritage. You'll see
examples of
creative urban planning and projects to inspire your vision.

Neighborhood organizations, business groups, and
city officials will participate. Our goal is to ensure
that growth and development along Lincoln Blvd.
reflect, respect and enhance the unique qualities of
our historic and artistic community.
