Meeting Announcement
GRVNC Poverty and Homelessness Committee
Date: Monday, 29-Dec
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Place: Vera Davis McClendon Center,
610 California Ave., Venice
(corner of California and Electric)
This is the third meeting and Venice stakeholder participation is
encouraged! Discussions, ideas, and proposals should be motivated
by
principles of basic Human Rights and Civil Rights.
At the first meeting a committee mission was established with
this
supporting statement:
Acting as a committee of the Grassroots Venice Neighborhood
Council (GRVNC),
identify the current situation of poverty and homelessness in
Venice to
insure the basic human rights of all members of the Venice
community.
Furthermore, we will work to network with the GRVNC, the Venice
community,
and other organizations with similar missions.
At the second meeting the list of issues and possible objectives
or
activities was expanded:
Although a great number of issues were identified while
brainstorming at the
first and second meeting, the pressing need for facilities (such
as toilets
and hot showers) for people living un-housed appeared to
take precedence.
Tentative Meeting Agenda:
Work on a "Facilities" Project
-Identify Activities (possibly create activity teams)
-Make sure to tie activities to mission
-Reach Formal Consensus on Project Activities
Work for Consensus on one more priority and project
