Election Day — September 16 10AM to 5PM at Venice High School
How do I register as a candidate?
To register to be a candidate on the official ballot, you must register at one of two Candidate Information Sessions. You must also bring valid credentials proving stakeholder status at the time you register. Candidate Information Sessions will be held:
- July 26 at 7pm
- August 16 at 7pm
Both sessions will be held at Beyond Baroque , 681 Venice Blvd.
What will be included on the ballot for each candidate?
You may submit a 200 word statement and digital picture of no more then 240 × 240 pixels. This information must be received no later then Friday August 17 at 6pm at the email address elections@grvnc.org . Or hand delivered at the final August 16 Candidate Election meeting.
Candidate Forum
There will be a Candidate Forum on Thursday September 6, 2007, at Westminster Elementary School Auditorium. All Candidates are invited to come and address stakeholders on issues that effect Venice.
How do I register to vote?
You may register to vote on the day of the election. You MUST bring valid credentials proving stakeholder status at the time you register, or at the time you vote.
How do I register to vote-by-mail?
You must register to vote-by-mail in person at one of three Election Information Sessions. You MUST bring valid credentials proving stakeholder status at the time you register. Election Information Sessions will be held:
- July 17, 7pm to 9pm
- August 21, 7pm to 9pm
- August 26, 10am to 1pm
(All three voter information events are at Westminster Elementary School, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd in the Auditorium).
What is a Valid Credential?
A valid credential includes, but is not limited to one of the following: CA Drivers License or CA Residency Card (for an address within the VNC area); ?School ID Card (for a school with in the VNC boundaries); ?A business card (in combination with any of the following with a matching Venice address: Business license, business check, or pay stub); A recent utility bill (for an address within the VNC area); ?An imprinted check (including an address within the VNC area); Pay stub (from a business within the VNC area); ?Passport (only in combination with any other credential item); ?School report card (from a school with in the VNC boundaries); ?Property tax bill (with an address within the VNC area); OTHER CREDENTIALS: ?For Church/Religious Institution within the VNC area: ?Letter on church letterhead with contact information from Church/Religious institution attesting to volunteer work; ?Nonprofit Organization within the VNC area: ?Letter on organization letterhead with contact information from organization attesting to stakeholder volunteer work; ?Senior Group within the VNC area: ?Letter on group letterhead with contact information from group attesting to stakeholder volunteer work; or Venice Beach Boardwalk Public Expression Permit.
- All forms of identification must be valid at the time of the election.
How do I Become a Write-In-Candidate?
To register as a write-in-candidate you must contact the Independent Election Administrator (Jerry Kvasnicka) no later then September 13, 2007, at 5 PM and provide a completed candidate filing form and proof of stakeholder status. The IEA can be contacted at 323.256.6330.

Candidates for President
Above all else, the VNC President provides leadership to the Board of Officers and Venice community and coordinates directly or indirectly the many activities of the Board as a whole. The President also chairs the Stakeholder, Board of Officers and Administrative Committee meetings. In addition, the President appoints chairs of the ad hoc committees and acts as chief liaison with Los Angeles City and other government agencies for delivery of Community Impact Statements and other correspondence.
