Help Please!! SLSO: WHO,WHAT,WHEN,WHERE and WHY??
Submitted by keith on Thu, 05/01/2008 - 1:47pm.Due to a recent proposed project on the Venice Canals I need a crash course in city planning/land use and its related acronyms - I have 6 questions and a final comment:
1) WHAT is the SLSO?
2) WHY was it proposed?
3) WHO proposed the legislation (if it is a law) 4) WHEN was it passed into effect?
5) WHAT is the spirit and intent of this legislation?
6) HOW does the VNC, the LUPC and the VSP fit into the picture? Were they part of/privy to the SLSO legislative process?

Fences & Hedges - Venice Specific Plan
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 03/13/2008 - 3:11pm.I have just been notified and can confirm that the City has now fixed the links on their website containing the Venice Specific Plan. The link is:
http://cityplanning.lacity.org/complan/specplan/vensppage.htm
Most of Venice is in the Venice Coastal Zone Area. Here is what it says about the fence height in the walk streets:
2. Public Right-of-Way.
a. The existing gardens/patios located within the public right-ofway, between the fences and the property line, shall be maintained to provide a transitional zone between the public pathways and private dwellings.

Building and Safety Garage Problem
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 03/06/2008 - 5:12pm.We live on Vernon on the east side of Lincoln behind Smart and Final.
We have a detached garage in the rear of the property that we use as
an office, being behind Smart and Final we have a ton of on street
parking and our alleyways are in such bad shape and pretty dangerous
that nobody uses them or parks in their garage, 36 out of the 40
properties along our alley use their garages for personal use, not cars.
Building and Safety is harassing us about using this as an office.
They also told me that they cracking down on all garage conversions in
Venice.
