Venice Loves to Eat -- and Venice Loves its BBQ!!! !>http://venicenc.org/files/2010_BBQ_Invite.jpg! Venice loves to eat! So don't forget to bring pot luck sides and desserts along with an empty tummy to the 4th Annual Venice Community BBQ & Picnic! The event will take place at the Oakwood Recreation Center (767 California, Venice) Saturday, July 31, noon until 5 pm. Our annual BBQ is fast becoming a tradition of the Venice community. It’s a cooperative venture – the BBQ and Music is provided by the VNC, while Entertainment and Prizes come from the people and merchants of Venice. And of course the Venice Firefighters #63 bring their trucks and serve the BBQ which is prepared by master chefs on the MOAB – the Mother of All BBQs. And don’t forget the competitions! Prizes are awarded for Best Ribs, Chicken, and Pork. Winning sides and desserts are selected from the potluck provided by stakeholders (see below)! This year's music starts with a Gospel set by the Second Community Baptist Church, and ends with JTRoss, Venice's own Harmonica Bluesman. There will be a Bounce House for the children, a magician, and possibly a puppet show. There will be games, games, and more games for both adults and children. Rumor has it that the VNC has challenged the Venice Chamber of Commerce to a three-legged relay race, and a greased watermelon relay race. That should be something to see, and did we mention the watermelon eating contest??
