Vencice Community BBQ & Picnic

The 3rd Annual Venice Neighborhood Council Community BBQ & Picnic is happening! Get ready now! Saturday, August 1, 2009, 12:00 - 5:00pm Oakwood Recreation Center, 767 California Avenue, Venice Celebrate our community with food and BBQ prepared by Venitians and our local firefighters! Dance all day to the music of Venice! Taste the BBQ, sides, and desserts and cheer for your favorites as they compete for prizes! HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE IN THIS FUN DAY ???? JOIN US FOR FREE BBQ & PICNIC! This is a FREE event, open to everyone! Bring your family - we'll have special activities just for the kids! And don't forget to bring your appetite! COMPETE FOR TROPHIES & PRIZES! Does everyone say you make the best BBQ?!! Now you can prove it by entering the Venice Community BBQ Cook-off!! Win! Prizes will be awarded in five BBQ Cook-off categories: Best Chicken - Best Pork - Best Beef - Best Side Dish - Best Dessert. The rules are: The BBQ can be any style. (Latin, Kansas City, Texas, Korean etc.) To win prizes or trophy in the meat categories you must cook your meat at the park (you can start cooking before the Cook-off and finish your meat at the park if you need longer cooking time). All meats must be ready for judging by 4pm (you can start cooking at 7am).You must bring your own grill and charcoal/wood. Side dishes and dessert can be cooked somewhere else and brought to the park. To enter or to ask questions email barklie@tiltedworldmusic.com POT LUCK! Have fun while serving your Venice community and get a coveted Venice BBQ t-shirt! Vounteer positions include: serving and cooking food, set-up and clean-up, helping with kids games, and general event support. Shifts are available from 11am through 6pm. WE also have a need for a few extra large coolers, a few spare refrigerators, and a few spare ovens to help us cook all this food in the 3 days before the BBQ.
