Chair: Nick Hippisley-Coxe Our Mission Statement is: The Public Safety committee researches, develops and shares information and ideas on how Venice residents can increase safety within their communities. It will work to provide education and tools to support the creation of neighborhood-led action groups and will help work with city and law enforcement officials to advise and aid in crime prevention. The committee will also coordinate with city, county, and state organizations to gather and share information on how Venice residents can stay safer in the event of a natural disaster.

CD-11 City Councilman Bill Rosendahl has called a Town Hall meeting on homeless issues. The public is invited to a discussion on enforcement strategies and social services. The Town Hall forum is scheduled for September 23rd to discuss homeless issues in the 11th Council District. The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Westminster Elementary School Auditorium, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd. (enter from Westminster), in Venice.

California Coastal Cleanup Day, sponsored by the California Coastal Commission, is the premier volunteer event focused on the marine environment in the country. California Coastal Cleanup Day has been hailed by the Guinness Book of World Records as “the largest garbage collection” (1993). Since the program started in 1985, over 800,000 Californians have removed more than 14 million pounds of debris from our state’s shorelines and coast.
