The City has directed us to change our bylaws to reflect their new policy that the City Clerk will run neighborhood council elections every other year and that current board terms be extended so that the board can continue to function until the new board election is held.

Stakeholders will vote at the May 19 meeting to ratify the following amendment passed by the board at its March meeting.

Participants and Exhibitors Announced for Venice Neighborhood Council’s “Venice Be Ready Expo” Emergency Preparedness Town Hall for Families

“Better to have a plan you never need, than to need a plan you never have”

Venice, Calif., May 26, 2009—The Venice Be Ready Expo, a Town Hall on Emergency Preparedness will be held on Sunday, May 31st at the Westside Leadership Magnet School, 104 Anchorage on the Marina Peninsula, starting at 1:00pm.

The Neighborhood Committee Meets on the first Monday morning of each month at Vera Davis McClendon Community Center, 610 California Avenue, in Venice.

The Commitee is composed of stakeholders representatives from the various unique neighborhoods in Venice. Our main areas of concern are the Community Improvement Fund program; developing an Emergency Preparedness and Awareness Plan; and serving as the eyes and ears on the Venice Community on issues of concern.

The June 1 meeting has been cancelled
