The American Red Cross, working with the Emergency Preparedness Task Force of the Venice Neighborhood Committee offers a partner training which includes instruction on how to set up a shelter and then an exercise putting it into practice. The training is open to all stakeholders. During the Sylmar fires and Metrolink train crash, the local Neigbhorhood Council activists were the first responders. Because of the resultant problems, the American Red Cross is now working with NC’s to develop a better understanding and cooperation. Details to follow.

The Neighborhood Committee Meets on the first Monday morning of each month at Extra Space Storage, 658 Venice Boulevard in the Community Room. The Commitee is composed of stakeholder representatives from the various unique neighborhoods in Venice. Our main areas of concern are the Community Improvement Fund program; developing an Emergency Preparedness and Awareness Plan; and serving as the eyes and ears on the Venice Community on issues of concern.
