The American Red Cross, working with the Emergency Preparedness Task Force of the Venice Neighborhood Committee offers a partner training which includes instruction on how to set up a shelter and then an exercise putting it into practice. The training is open to all stakeholders. During the Sylmar fires and Metrolink train crash, the local Neigbhorhood Council activists were the first responders. Because of the resultant problems, the American Red Cross is now working with NC’s to develop a better understanding and cooperation.
