Grass Roots Venice Neighborhood Council Update

Election News: The LA Department of Neighborhood
Empowerment Suggested that in light of conflicting
bylaws amendments being sent to them - both board
amendments and stakeholder initiative amendments -
that the election procedures by re-written to conform
to the old, un-amended bylaws to receive fast
approval.
Thursday, the Election Committee will meet to 
revise the election procedures to conform to the
old bylaws, but still retain the procedural
improvements from all the lessons learned form the
last election.  For example, 3rd party absentee 
ballot requests will still be prohibited, by 
definition, since a signature sent in the mail
to the League of Women Voters is required to
obtain a vote-by-mail ballot.  Also required a 
will be a photocopy of a credential showing
that the requester is a GRVNC stakeholder.

One stakeholder initiative proponent and a Venice
homeless and car-less person are being asked to fill
vacancies on the Elections Committee to join the three

remaining randomly selected committee members.

These procedures will be delivered on an emergency
basis to the board meeting later that day at the
Vera Davis Center where the board will also be
voting to submit the stakeholder initiative 
results to DONE.

Also, you may now send positive comments about 
the special initiative election for inclusion
in the data to the board and to DONE.  Send
an email to elections@grvnc.org.
